Yahoo has announced the general availability of its Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 service in the US and beta versions for another 13 countries. Support for Windows Mobile devices was announced back in March along with an HTC partnership and now the service formally goes live on Friday with support for more than 200 different mobile phones by the end of July and more than 400 by the end of the year.
The latest version offers improved performance speed, improved email (including support for more attachment types), more powerful maps (including satellite and hybrid maps, current traffic conditions and optional GPS integration on selected devices), improved mobile search results and more.
Localized beta versions for Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, United Kingdom, Thailand and Vietnam will also launch this upcoming Friday. They will offer as much functionality as the US version.
Yahoo! Go for Mobile 2.0 will also be preloaded on future devices from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, LG and HTC.
