Will the ZENUM Opus Operis smartphone ever ship? It first surfaced back in early November 2006 but its release date has been on a bit of slide ever since. Now comes word that it will ship on schedule (Spring 2007). This latest ETA (if you can call it that) comes from ZENUM directly after UnWired View got in touch with them to get an update.
A few things have changed since the ZENUM Opus Operis first surfaced. First, it now goes by the simpler name of Opus. It has also been bumped up to Windows Mobile 6. The processor is only listed as a TI OMAP processor so maybe this is a sign that it will come with something faster than the 200MHz first expected. Other specs appear unchanged: tri-band GSM/GPRS, 2.5-inch touchscreen, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, a QWERTY keyboard, a 2MP camera, a miniSD slot, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2 and a mini-USB connector.
The ZENUM Opus will sell for 800€ unsubsidized but ZENUM plans to partner up with mobile carriers so we could see it for cheaper (with service contract of course).
It also looks like ZENUM is planning a Opus 3G with HSDPA for the end of 2008.
