Universal Music Group has confirmed that it will not renew its long-term iTunes agreement but will move to an at will agreement like it has with other retail partners. The new agreement will be agreed to on a monthly basis and could mean that some Universal music will not be available through iTunes as Universal offers exclusives to other online music services.
Originally, Universal had signed a three year agreement with Apple. A one year extension had been signed last year.
It will be interesting to see how this affects negotiations with other labels.
