According to DigiTimes, TechFaith Wireless is planning two new low-cost 3G handsets in emerging markets such as India, Russia, Eastern Europe and Latin America. Prices will range from US$120 to US$150.
Both will be candybar form factors using the Qualcomm single-chip MSM 6245 solution. Further details on the phones are not available yet.
DigiTimes suggests that this pricing strategy could also start a price war among OEM mobile phone manufacturers. Now if only we could do something to trigger a price war for mobile phone rates in Canada…
