Ready for another memory card specification? SanDisk and Sony seem to think so. The two have agreed to develop the SxS (S-by-S) memory card specification for use in professional camcorders and non-linear video editing systems. Compatible with ExpressCard slots, the card will support data transfer speeds of up to 800Mbps.
ExpressCard technology is the successor to the older PC Card slot technology.
The new SxS memory card format will be used in Sony’s XDCAM EX series professional camcorders and memory cards should be available by the end of the year. Pricing information should be available closer to release dates.
