September 12th Palm device will not be the Centro

That mysterious device that Palm plans to unveil on September 12th is not the Centro. According to the Palm blog, There’s been a lot of buzz about the new device our friends across the “pond” are planning to announce on September 12th…and it’s not the Palm Centro smartphone!

So, if it’s not the Centro, what could it be? How about that Gandolf device that keeps surfacing in rumours? Back in June, rumours swirled that Palm was working on a Windows Mobile 6 Standard device (another variant would run the PalmOS but without the touchscreen functionality) that would come with support for 3G/HSDPA, a 2.4-inch QVGA screen, 64MB RAM and 256MB ROM, a 2MP camera and Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP. The carrier could be Vodafone if some leaked pictures are to be believed. Rumours also suggest that the device will be known as the Treo 5xx.
