Despite quickly dropping prices for flash memory, solid state drives (SSD) remain relatively expensive. But there is now a cheaper alternative: Build your own SSD. Start with GeekStuff4U’s SDB25SD SD to SSD enclosure. Pop in either 2 or 4 SD cards and slide into a drive bay with a free IDE connector. Voila, your own SSD.
The enclosure does not support SDHC which limits you to a maximum of 8GB (4x2GB SD cards) unfortunately.
The SD to SSD enclosure is available from GekStuff4U for $258.50 USD and does not include SD cards. At the rate flash memory is falling, you might want to just wait a few months!
