Samsung has begun to ship its new MH80 Series hard drives to OEMs. The drives combine either 128MB or 256MB of NAND Flash memory with a hard drive capacity of 80GB, 120GB or 160GB. They are compatible with Windows Vista and Samsung claims that the drives will improve boot times by up to 50 percent, cut resume times from hibernation, improve battery life for notebooks and cut power consumption. Samsung also claims that hybrid hard drives can improve reliability five fold over traditional hard drives.
Samsung did not reveal pricing information but hopefully we will soon see manufacturers announce the drives in upcoming notebooks.
