Only days after the demise of the Axim handheld product line, PC World is reporting that Dell could be looking at buying Palm to get into the smarpthone market. The rumour is attributed to an an analyst at J. Gold Associates who predicts that Dell will introduce a smartphone later this year.
Rumours of a Palm buyout seemed to gather strength last month with Nokia, Motorola and private equity firms all in the running at one time or another. It would appear that Palm now has a new suitor. We’ll just have to see if anything comes of it.
