Rogers Wireless announced today that it has begun to field test its 3.5G HSPA/UMTS network, offering download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. “The consumer appetite for mobile applications is undeniable in Canada
and around the world,” said Rob Bruce, President, Rogers Wireless. “The data speeds achieved in this trial will enable Rogers to meet our customers’ needs with the most advanced, innovative services today and in the future.” The trials will take place in Brampton and Montreal.
Rogers points out that it is the first North American wireless provided to begin 3.5 network trials.
There is no word yet on how long the trials will last and when other parts of the country will get the benefit of 3.5G coverage.
This could be great news if it is accompanied with more reasonable rates.
