Research in Motion, maker of the BlackBerry smartphones, announced today that it has chosen Irving, Texas as the location for its US headquarters. Within the next few years, it will employ about 1,000 people in a variety of roles, including research and development as well as business operations and administration.
The facility will occupy more than 100,000 square feet in a recently renovated six building complex.
RIM’s world headquarters will remain in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
