MP3 players are great when you’re on the go or want to listen to your tunes without disturbing others (for example, at the office). With the ever increasing capacities available, it is now possible to carry most if not all of your music collection with you wherever you go. But how do you listen to your tunes on other audio devices like your home stereo system or in your car? Proporta has the answer for you.
Proporta has announced the Proporta Wireless FM Stereo Transmitter to let you listen to your MP3 player through your car stereo or any other source with a radio frequency. Plug it into a 3.5mm stereo output, select one of the pre-selected frequencies (106.7, 107.1, 107.5 or 107.9), tune in your stereo system and you’re all set. It can be powered by either 2 AAA batteries or with a car power supply.
If you live in a large urban center, the fact that you only have pre-selected frequencies to choose from may mean that it will not work properly. The channel selected on the FM Transmitter must have a very weak radio station or no radio station broadcasting on it. In a city like Toronto, finding a frequency that is not in use is a challenge.
The Proporta Wireless FM Transmitter is available for $23.95 USD directly from Proporta and is expected to start shipping in late April.
