Back in February, a security flaw affecting the Palm Treo 700p, 680 and 650 devices was uncovered. When the Treo 680 smartphone password protection is enabled, the password protection can be partially circumvented by running the Find feature while on the “Make Emergency Call” screen. This would allow a malicious user to view a list of search results from the Treo 680’s built-in applications such as Contacts, Calendar, Tasks, Memos and Email.
Palm has finally issued a security patch to prevent this from happening. It is available either as an over-the-air download or to your your computer to be sync’ed to your Treo later.
The patch is available for the Treo 680, Treo 650 and Treo 700p.
