Palm Europe unveils Treo 500v

Palm Treo 500v

As predicted, Palm Europe formally announced the Treo 500v today in partnership with Microsoft and Vodafone.

Specs-wise, the Treo 500v is pretty much what we expected. It will be powered by Windows Mobile 6 Standard, making it the first Treo not to have a touchscreen. It will come with a QVGA display, a QWERTY keyboard, tri-band GSM/GPRS and single-band UMTS connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, 256MB ROM (with 150MB available user storage), a 2MP camera with 2.5x digital zoom, and a microSD slot. It will be available in two colours: glacier white and charcoal grey.

The Treo 500v will be offered as a Vodafone exclusive in Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, the UK and Vodacom customers in South Africa. When the exclusivity ends at the end of the year, it should become available in other countries as the Treo 500.

The Treo 500v will be available as of October 1. Pricing information was not disclosed.
