Palm formally announced the Centro, the “world’s smallest Palm device”, today at the DigitalLife show. It had first been revealed at a Sprint media event in August. With voice, text, IM, email, web, contact and calendar capabilities, a full-color touch screen and full keyboard, Centro brings Palm simplicity and organization to customers who want to stay connected with co-workers, friends and family. As expected, Sprint has a 90 day exclusive for now and has launched a web site dedicated to it.
The Centro is powered by the PalmOS. It comes with a QWERTY keyboard, EV-DO connectivity, 64MB available user storage, a 320 x 320 display, a 1.3MP camera, Bluetooth 1.2, and a microSD slot (supporting cards up to 4GB). It will be available in Ruby or Onyx colours.
The Centro will go on sale on October 14th for US$99 with a two-year service contract.
