The prospects of seeing the Apple iPhone in Canada sometime in the near future dimmed even more today. As early as last April, Rogers had begun to distance itself from any rumours that it would soon offer the iPhone. While Rogers, the only national GSM carrier, would love to offer the iPhone, they still do not have a date and there are no discussions currently scheduled between Apple and Rogers to bring the iPhone to Canada.
Rogers Chief Operating Officer Nadir Mohamed said today that he expects that the iPhone will go on sale in Europe before it comes to Canada for the simple reason that Europe is a much larger market than Canada. Mohamed also indicated that negotiating a price for the iPhone in Canada had not been a stumbling block. But could the comparatively expensive service plans in Canada costs be an issue?
If you were planning on an iPhone before Christmas, now you have some money for other gadgets instead!
