The Nikon D40 DSLR only came out last November but Nikon has already announced an update to it. The D40x sports an increased megapixel count of 10.2MP compared to the D40’s 6MP, a wider range of ISO speeds, the addition of a Retouch menu which includes Nikon’s D-Lighting, red-eye correction, Image Trim and other features. Shooting speed has also been increased from up to 2.5 frames per second to 3 frames per second. Other than these changes, it is identical to the D40.
The D40x will be available with a 3X 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor lens if you need a starter lens.
The Nikon D40x will be available starting in April for about $200 USD more than the D40.
