DigiTimes is reporting that the upcoming iPAQ 600 and 900 will be launched in the last quarter of the year. They also confirm earlier specs that indicated that both would be powered by a 520MHz Marvell processor and Windows Mobile 6. Both will also support HSDPA, Wi-Fi and AGPS. DigiTimes also indicates that the new iPAQs will be manufactured by Taiwan-based Inventec Appliances.
Meanwhile, the::unwired has been doing some digging of its own and suggests that the new 600 and 900 could in fact be OKWAP designs. The first piece of evidence is the virtual scroll wheel that the 600 sports. It seems to work in the same fashion as that on the OKWAP S868 announced back in early 2007. The second piece of evidence is a side by side comparison of the iPAQ 900 and the OKWAP K871. They are almost identical. And guess who manufactures the OKWAP devices? Full points if you guessed Inventec!
There are also pictures not only of the 600 and 900 series but also the 300, 200 and 100 series (and new details on the last three).
The iPAQ 314 will feature a 4.3-inch WVGA (800×480) display, Bluetooth and some custom HP software. The iPAQ 214 will feature a 4-inch VGA display, Wi-Fi but will lack telephony capabilities – although you can use VoIP). The iPAQ 114 will be a traditional PDA with no telephony support and will come with a 3.5-inch QVGA display, 64MB RAM and Bluetooth.
The 100, 200, and 600 will start to ship in October. The 900 will follow in November. I suspect we will see the 300 around the same time.
