I hope you all had a chance to see it for yourselves for the Canadian iPhone prize on the Molson website for that contest in Quebec has been removed. It has been replaced by a generic mobile phone / PDA with accessories.
Jean-Philippe over at Mobile in Canada continued to dig into the story. Molson has changed its story and a representative indicated that the iPhone would have been purchased in the United States and made to work in Canada. Before we dismiss the story, note that the terms and conditions still show describe the prize as an 8GB device featuring a touchcreen. The CAD$800 will now apparently be revised when the prize reaches the Canadian market, sometime not before January 2008.
So what gives? Did someone really goof up and think that a US iPhone would work in Canada (Will Molson unlock it for the winner?) or is this a lame attempt at damage control?
