Pictures of the PRADA Phone by LG (also known as the KE850) first surfaced back in December. Now comes the official announcement by LG. Like the Apple iPhone, the PRADA Phone does away with most buttons in favour of a touchscreen
So, what else do we know so far? It is a tri-band GSM 900/1800/1900 phone with EDGE support that has a 3-inch display, a microSD slot, a 2MP camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens, Bluetooth 2.0 and media playback software (MP3/ACC/ACC+/WMA/RA audio and MPEG4/H.263/H.264 video formats). Unlike the iPhone, it does not appear to come with Flash memory and its user interface uses Flash (by Macromedia). The glowing icons on the phone will disappear when not in use to leave behind only a black exterior. It will only be about 12mm thick and measures 98.8mm x 54mm, making a bit smaller than the iPhone.
The KE850 is expected to hit stores in late February in the UK, France, Germany and Italy. Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore will follow in late March, 2007. Korea will see it in the second quarter. Prices will start at 600€ (about $775 USD).
Keep an eye on the PRADA phone web site for additional information.
