Apple and AT&T announced the service plans for the iPhone today. While the iPhone will work with any existing AT&T service plan, six new bundle plans (three for individuals and three for families) have been unveiled specifically for the iPhone. All three plans will offer unlimited data, Visual Voicemail, 200 SMS text messages and rollover minutes.
The three Individual plans offer 450 minutes for US$59.99, 900 minutes for US$79.99 and 1350 minutes for US$99.99. On the Family side, the plans are 700 minutes for US$80.00, 1400 minutes for US$100.00 and 2100 minutes for US$120.
Existing AT&T customers can add an iPhone Data Plan with unlimited data and Visual Voicemail for US$20 per month to their existing plan.
Just in case you missed it, the iPhone will be released this Friday at 6pm local time. A 4GB model will sell for US$499 and a 8GB model will sell for US$599 at AT&T retail stores and the Apple web site.
iPhone activation will take place through iTunes in the comfort and privacy of their own home or office, without having to wait in a store while their phone is activated. Activating iPhone takes only minutes as iTunes guides the user through simple steps to choose their service plan, authorize their credit and activate their iPhone.
