According to msmobiles.com, i-mate is finally about to release the first devices in its Ultimate line. The site reports that The Windows Mobile phones from i-mate Ultimate series will be on the shelves in early December 2007!according to reliable information from the source. The story source is attributed to Erik Moser, PR Counsel for i-mate. If this turns out to be true, we finally could see the Ultimate 6150 and 8150 as well as the more recently announced 8502 and 9502.
The Ultimate 6150 and Ultimate 8150 share the following specifications: They are powered by 520MHz Intel PXA 270 processors and Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Both come with quad-band GSM?GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, an nVidia G5500 Graphic Accelerator, VGA touchscreen display (2.8-inch for the 6150 and 2.6-inch for the 8150), 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, 802.11 b/g/e/i Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, XGA direct video out, 2MP camera with 4x zoom and a front-facing VGA camera, FM stereo radio, and a microSD slot. The 6150 has a jog dial on the side and a 5-way d-pad with send and end buttons. The 8150 adds a 12-key numeric keypad.
The 8502 and 9502 are powered by a 400MHz Qualcomm processor and Windows Mobile 6 Professional. They also come with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band HSDPA/HSUPA connectivity, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, integrated GPS and a microSD slot. While the 8502 features a 2.6-inch QVGA display and QWERTY keyboard, the 9502 features a Sidekick-like keyboard below a slide-out 2.8-inch VGA display and an auto-focus 3MP camera.
i-mate has canceled a number of devices this year so let’s see if they are finally able to get things turned around.
