i-mate has finally launched the first two devices in its Ultimate range (but only in the Middle East for now). The Ultimate range consists of high-end, sophisticated 3G Windows Mobile devices in a variety of form factors designed to suit any user. The whole range is based on Windows Mobile 6, the latest Windows Mobile operating system. The first two devices to be announced are teh Ultimate 6150 and 8150.
The Ultimate 6150 and Ultimate 8150 share the following specifications: They are powered by 520MHz Intel PXA 270 processors and Windows Mobile 6 Professional. Both come with quad-band GSM?GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA connectivity, an nVidia G5500 Graphic Accelerator, VGA touchscreen display (2.8-inch for the 6150 and 2.6-inch for the 8150), 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, 802.11 b/g/e/i Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, XGA direct video out, 2MP camera with 4x zoom and a front-facing VGA camera, FM stereo radio, and a microSD slot.
The 6150 lacks both numeric keypad and QWERTY keyboard but has a jog dial on the side and a 5-way d-pad with send and end buttons. The 8150 adds a 12-key numeric keypad.
The press release (PDF format) does not indicate how much these first two Ultimate devices will cost.
