HTC has announced that the HTC Touch will make its Asian retail debut in Taiwan in mid-June, after its release in Europe earlier this month.
“With the launch of the HTC Touch, HTC has officially emerged as an instantly-recognizable global brand,” said Peter Chou, chief executive officer at HTC. “Since Taiwan is HTC’s home base, it is only fitting that it be the first country in Asia to sell the HTC Touch.”
Powered by a 201MHz TI OMAP procesor and Windows Mobile 6 Professional, the HTC Touch comes with tri-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, a 2MP camera, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, a microSD slot (and a 1GB microSD card is included). It will be available in either elegant soft black or alluring wasabi green. It is also the first device to come with HTC’s TouchFLO, an interface that lets users slide their finger across the display to manage their Contacts, Media and Applications screens. The interface can be spun by swiping a finger right or left across the display, providing efficient access to the features consumers use most. TouchFLO also enhances finger touch scrolling and browsing of Web pages, documents, messages and contact lists. The interface has even been programmed to intelligently distinguish between finger and stylus input and then responds accordingly.
The HTC Touch will sell for NT$15,900.
The HTC Touch will also be heading to the US by year’s end.
