According to DigiTimes (I did not find a corresponding press release on the HTC web site), HTC announced today that it will build a new plant in Shanghai. The factory should be completed to start operations in the second half of 2008. HTC plans to spend US$15.5 million on the construction.
The news was part of an announcement around HTC’s financial forecase for the third quarter. Hui-Ming Cheng, HTC’s CFO, indicated that HTC expects revenue growth of between 5 and 9 percent but slightly lower gross profit margins.
