Apple was not the only company announcing a revamp of a product line today. Hewlett-Packard also formally introduced its new iPAQ lineup. As we had reported back in early August, five new series complementing the current iPAQ 500 series were unveiled:
- HP iPAQ 900 Series Business Messenger with 3G connectivity and QWERTY keyboard
- HP iPAQ 600 Series Business Navigator, smartphones with 3G connectivity and GPS
- HP iPAQ 300 Series Travel Companion, handheld GPS devices packing graphics acceleration
- HP iPAQ 200 Series Enterprise Handheld, traditional PDAs with 4-inch VGA display and Wi-Fi
- HP iPAQ 100 Series Classic Handheld, an affordable line of traditional PDAs with QVGA and Wi-Fi
HP already has the iPAQ 110, iPAQ 210, iPAQ 610 (no camera) and iPAQ 610c (with 3MP camera) specifications up on their US web site.
For example, the iPAQ 610 will come a 520MHz Marvell processor, Windows Mobile 6 Professional, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band HSDPA connectivity, 128MB RAM and 256MB ROM, a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a Smart Touch Wheel, 3-way thumb wheel and 12-key numeric pad, and a microSD slot. The 610c adds a 3MP camera with 4x zoom.
HP will begin to ship the HP iPAQ 100, 300 and 600 series in September with the 200 following in October. No word yet on when the 900 will ship though.
