A mysterious iPAQ has received FCC approval but details as to which device it could be are slim, given that the only pictures on the FCC site are those of the carrying case. Documents reveal that the device will come with 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.0+EDR but that’s about it. Additional details are still classified. The public disclosure of these materials may be harmful to the applicant and provide unjustified benefits to its competitors.
Another interesting detail is that the submission was made by Hon Hai (also known as Foxconn International Holdings), suggesting that they will be making at least one more series for HP (they already make the HP iPAQ 500 series).
It is expected that HP will announce a number of new devices, ranging from simple PDAs (series 100) up to 3G devices equipped with QWERTY keyboards, integrated GPS and Wi-Fi (series 900).
Rumours continue to swirl that HP will announce this new mobile device lineup in early September.
