E-paper technology continues to improve. LG Philips has unveiled an A4-sized (35 centimeters or 14 inches) colourized panel prototype that measures only 0.3-millimeters in thickness. The display is capable of 4,096 colours, offers a viewing angle of 180 degrees, and uses power only when the image needs to change. LG Philips used the E-Ink technology from E-Ink in their panel. Thanks to the use of metal foil and plastic substrate instead of glass substrate, the display is also bendable.
LG Philips did not disclose if or when this technology would make its way into products available to consumers but don’t expect it too soon!
