Details are sketchy at this time but there are indications that Telus Mobility is considering launching a discount wireless mobility service. Rogers Wireless and Bell Canada already have discount services (Fido and Solo respectively) that they use to target more youth-oriented markets.
Telus has registered the name Koodo Mobile in a number of provinces as well as the domain name koodomobile.ca.
This would not be Telus’ first attempt at a second brand. It was behind the Amp’d Mobile Canada service which shut down earlier this year after its US partner filed for bankruptcy protection.
