Those rumours back in April have been confirmed: Dell has confirmed that it will offer a tablet PC by year’s end. Jeff Clarke, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Dell’s Business Product Group, shows off the upcoming Tablet PC in a video posted today on the Direct2Dell blog.
The short video is light on details but indicates that the tablet will fall into the Dell Latitude product line and will be aimed at the education, health care and corporate markets. The quick demo shows off what appears to be a very slim and light convertible tablet design.
Jeff Clarke also indicates that Dell spent “considerable time working on the interface” so it will be interesting to see what Dell came up with to improve the user interface.
The April rumours suggested that the Tablet would fall into the D420 series. If so, it is likely that the upcoming tablet will come with a 12.1-inch display and weigh somewhere in the range of 3 pounds (1.37 kilograms).
