Details of the Asus P526 Smartphone first surfaced back in March. Back then, we only knew that it would run Windows Mobile 6 Professional and come with quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity, integrated GPS (using the SiRFStar III chipset), and integration with many of Microsoft’s Windows Live mobile services.
Now, the specs are out. Powered by a 200MHz TI OMAP processor, it will also come with a 2.6-inch QVGA touchscreen, 64MB RAM and 128MB ROM, a microSD slot, Bluetooth 1.2, and a 2MP camera. The phone lacks any 3G connectivity support.
It is likely that ASUS will also include software introduced on other recent devices, including the Remote Presenter tool to remotely control PowerPoint presentations and a data encryption tool.
The formal launch is expected this month.
