Amp’d Mobile Canada will launch on March 14, the same day that cell phone numbers become transferable between carriers here in Canada. Amp’d is partnering with Telus for its expansion into Canada and will offer mobile content (including games, music and sports through some 200 different content partnerships) to Telus customers who sign up for the additional service. It will have a production studio in Toronto for interviews and performances.
Amp’d’s focus will be on young adults willing to pay for additional content. In the US, it has a fairly small user base but this base is spends much more every month (over $100 USD) than customers of the traditional carriers (where monthly bill average $53 USD).
