We first heard about the HTC Juno back in late August but only had a few details. Now the Boy Genius has landed some new pictures and some new details.
Interestingly, the details offered by The Boy Genius don’t quite line up with those earlier details. Back in August, Crunchgear had indicated that the HTC Juno would be very similar to the GSM HTC S710 Vox and CDMA HTC S720 Libra keyboard sliders but with 3G connectivity. The Boy Genius is indicating that the Juno will feature a consumer friendly interface, most likely HTC’s TouchFlo , and a QWERTY keyboard but the screenshots suggest that the slide-out keyboard is more similar to RIM’s SureType keyboard technology than to that of the S710 and S720. SureType uses a combination of a keyboard that is halfway between a full QWERTY keyboard and a numeric keypad and predictive software to let you enter messages.
Did HTC license SureType from RIM? Did they come up with their own predictive text-entry system? Hopefully we will get more information on this soon.
Specific pricing and availability is not available but it should be heading to T-Mobile USA in mid to late October.
Update: Crunchgear has gone back to their source who confirmed that the Juno will have a QWERTY keyboard and will run Windows Mobile and HTC’s TouchFlo. They also report that the Juno will only land at T-Mobile USA early next year as AT&T will offer it exclusively first.
