It sounds like Microsoft has begun to show off its upcoming Zune DAP to select retailers. And more details are leaking out as a result. The latest rumours suggest that the Zune will cost $299 USD and will indeed come with a 30GB hard drive. More surprising is the suggestion that the Zune will need to be connected to a PC in order to purchase songs. Earlier rumours had suggested that songs would have been purchasable over Wi-Fi. Instead, now it looks like users will only be able to share songs over Wi-Fi. The screen will be larger than the one on Apple’s iPods.
As for PlaysForSure, it looks like Microsoft will set up its own music download site and compete against licensees.
