Is this HP’s way of celebrating Victoria Day with Canada? HP has released 3 Windows Mobile 5.0 updates for the iPAQ hx2000 family as well as a driver update for the HP iPAQ Foldable Keyboard.
First up is the HP iPAQ hx2000 Pocket PC Series Firmware Update. This new firmware update (oddly with the same version number) fixes a number of issues including iPAQ lock ups when an SD card is inserted, the loss of the ActiveSync profile when multiple units are synchronized using the same PC, iTask being unable to close the Search program, SD cards being unable to load or unload properly after resuming from Standby mode and still others. The update also comes with enhancements such as an update for the HP ProtectTools and an ActiveSync Mode Switch utility that lets you switch the ActiveSync connection type between the HP iPAQ Pocket PC and the host PC if the host PC has problems with the ActiveSync or VPN tunnel connection.
Next up: A Bluetooth Firmware update for the HP iPAQ hx2000 Pocket PC Series. This update replaces a section of the original system files for the listed handheld models and operating systems. This update is a permanent update to the ROM, and can only be undone by reflashing the entire ROM. Two versions are available: One for the hx2110, hx2115, hx2410 and hx2415 and one for the hx2195, hx2190, hx2490, hx2495, hx2750, hx2755, hx2790 and hx2795.
HP has also released a new driver update for the HP iPAQ Foldable Keyboard to provide updated support for Windows Mobile 5.0.
As always, remember that a ROM update will wipe out all ActiveSync partnership information as well as all your data and installed programs.
