WindowsMobileToday has an interesting article that looks at what the future holds when it comes to OLEDs (organic light-emitting diode) and PLEDs (polymer light-emitting diode). We’ve heard about OLEDs for a while now and they have started to appear in smaller devices like phones and cameras. In the next few years, they are expected to become cheaper to manufacture, consume less power and deliver a brighter and clearer image than current technologies (including LCD). The further benefit of using different types of substrates such as glass, plastic and metal foil will also allow OLEDs to appear in places that we are not accustomed to seeing displays (cylindrical columns, flexible display types, goggles and others).
The future looks bright for OLED and PLED technology.
