As expected, Palm has announced the Treo 700w. It will be carried for Verizon and will be available for $399.99 USD when purchased with specific two-year service contracts. No big surprises: It comes with Windows Mobile 5.0, a 312MHz Intel XScale processor, 128MB of memory with 60MB of it accessible to users, a Secure Digital slot, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, a 240×240 colour TFT screen, Bluetooth 1.2 and a 1.3MP camera capable of video capture as well as dual band (800MHz CDMA and 1900MHz PCS) and EV-DO.
Meanwhile, Verizon and UTStarcom Personal Communications have announced the Pocket PC XV6700. The XV6700 also runs Windows Mobile 5.0, has dual band and EV-DO capabilities, a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and Bluetooth. Unlike the Treo 700w, it comes with WiFi and a 2.8-inch TFT 240×320 screen, a more powerful 416MHz Intel XScale processor and a miniSD slot. It also has 64MB RAM and 128MB Flash ROM.
