Back in August, Synaptics (in partnership with industrial design studio Pilotfish) unveiled its Onyx phone concept which used Synaptics’ clear capacitive touch screen. The technology promised to deliver functionality like two finger input, proximity sensing, text entry and high resolution finger input wihtout resorting to the tradition keypad, joystick or scroll wheel found on today’s devices. Instead it relies on touch, proximity detection and gestures.
SlashGear was lucky enough to visit Synaptics and see the Onyx in the flesh. Best of all, they have videos of the demonstrations. Check them out: The Onyx might be at the forefront of an era featuring some very cool user interfaces.
