Sony has unveiled a new series of Walkman digital audio players. They feature built-in Flash memory and are available with 512MB, 1GB and 2GB capacities. The 512MB and 1GB models are also available with an FM tuner. They support MP3, WMA adnd ATRAC (anyone actually use ATRAC?) format playback and offer up to 28 hours of playback using an internal Lithium-ion rechargeable battery. They come with a USB port and SonicStage 3.4 to manage and transfer music to and from the player. Unlike the Apple iPod shuffle, they will have a one line dot matrix OLED display.
It will be available in a number of colours (pink, blue, silver, violet, black, and lime green) and will have a line of matching accessories, including headphones, a case and an armband.
Expect the new Walkmans in stores by end of April. So far, I have only seen this announcement for Europe. No word on Canada and the US (yet).
