If some 10 to 20 megapixels is not enough for you, the upcoming Seitz 6×17 Digital will be capable of taking a 160MP picture.. The other specifications are equally impressive: ISO range from 500 to 10,000, read-out speed of 300 MB per second, a shutter speed of 1/20,000th of a second, a detachable 640×480 pixel touch screen that can wirelessly control the camera. With picture files as large as 1GB each, the typical SD and CF cards just won’t do. Fortunately, the Seitz 6×17 will also come with a Mac mini that acts as storage device.
There are a few downside: The camera will not fit into your pocket. The body alone measures 495mm in wdith, 175mm in height and 95mm in depth and weighs 2.8 kg (it does come with ergonomic hand grips to help though). And it is not exactly cheap. Available in both mobile and studio versions, it will sell for at least $34,000 USD.
The camera will be on display at the Photokina show starting this upcoming week.
