Samsung has announced that it has developed a new 40-nanometer memory device which uses a Charge Trap Flash (CTF) architecture to sharply reduce inter-cell noise levels. Samsung will use the new technology in 32 and 64GB CompactFlash cards. A 64GB CF card would be sufficient to store some 40 DVD movies o some 16,000 MP3 music files!
The new CTF technology will eventually allow for the manufacturing of 30 and even 20-nanometer memory devices. In other words, you can look to even more storage capacity in future CF cards.
Pricing and release dates for the new cards was not disclosed.
