Macworld 2006 kicked off today with the traditional Steve Jobs Keynote speech. Here are the highlights:
- 32 million iPods sold in the last year with 14 million in the last quarter alone
- 850 songs and 8 million videos sold on ITMS
- Record $5.7 billion USD in revenue for the quarter that ended in December
- New accessory that acts as remote and FM radio tuner for fifth generation iPods ($49 USD)
- Update to Mac OS X Tiger: Version 10.4.4 with new widgets
- iLife ’06 with photocasting and updates to iMovie, iDVD and GarageBand
- New iLife application: iWeb to easily publish Web sites
- iWork ’06 ($79 USD)
- iMac with Intel processor. Same design but much improved performance from Intel Core Duo
- Applications like Final Cut and Aperture to be universal in March
- Office for Mac around for another 5 years
- “One more thing:” MacBook Pro with Intel duo Core, a 15.4-inch screen and a built-in iSight Web camera replaces Powerbook
