The latest rumours suggest that Apple has approached several Far East phone manufacturers with plans for its iPhone, a device combining mobile phone and iPod capabilities. This is not the first such rumour to surface as analysts at both Piper Jaffray and J.P. Morgan suggested the same earlier this month.
Two Taiwanese firms, Hon Hai Precision and Taiwan Green Point Enterprises, seem to be early favorites to manufacture or have a hand in the manufacture of the iPhone. An executive at BenQ revealed these details during an interview in which it was also established that BenQ would not be involved in the project as Apple is a competitor.
Analysts predict that Apple will unveil its iPhone within the next 12 months.
