i-mate has put its relationship with HTC behind it and started to announced devices from other manufacturers. First, we saw the JAQ and the JAQ3.
Now, i-mate may be getting ready to announce its JasJar replacement. Built by Chinese TechFaith Wireless, the K-Jar is a clamshell design with a 2.8-inch QVGA screen that twists around to fold over the keyboard when it is not needed (very similar to the HTC Universal). It should come with tri-band GSRM/GPRS/EDGE device and it will come with 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 1.2, 128MB ROM and 64MB RAM, a 2MP camera, a miniSD slot and an external display capable of a displaying a few lines of text. It will be powered by a TI OMAP750 processor and Windows Mobile 5.0 with AKU 3.0.
This device is already on sale in China as the UBiQUiO 601.
