Think Secret has learned that Apple will announce that it will rent movies through its iTunes Music Store at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference. Earlier rumours suggested that Steve Jobs had won a concession from the movie studios whereby customers would purchase and own movies. If so, this marks a significant departure for Steve Jobs and Apple.
Apparently, downloaded movies will come with a date stamp that will restrict playback. It is not known whether there will be a limited number of playbacks or a viewing period after which the movie will lock itself and become unavailable.
If this rumour does become fact, can we expect that Apple to release its video iPod sooner than later to capitalize on this news?
