HTC Vox Smartphone to feature slide-out keyboard?

HTC Vox

HTC is apparently hard at work on the Vox, a device that appears to be a candybar Smartphone (Windows Mobile Smartphone Edition) with slide-out keyboard.

In terms of specs, the Vox promises quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support, a 2.4-inch QVGA screen that will autorotate when the keyboard is slid out, 96MB RAM and 128MB ROM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, a 2MP camera, a micro-SD slot and a 5-way jog bar.

If leaked roadmaps prove to be real, the Vox will ship around the middle of 2007. If so, perhaps it will ship with Crossbow (the next version of Windows Mobile). The Vox will be positioned as a messaging-friendly phone rather than a replacement for your PDA-phone. So much for convergence!
