Having released four new devices, HTC is not taking a break. MoDaCo.com is reporting that HTC has begun work on the successor to the HTC Universal (also known as the SPV M5000 or Qtek 9000). Codenamed Omni, the new device will use a similar design, albeit thinner and with additional hardware buttons, and continue to offer VGA capabilities. Unlike the Universal, it will be powered by a Samsung processor and will come with Windows Mobile 5 with AKU 3.0 and HSPDA support.
The Omni is in early stages of design but is expected to begin shipping in late 2006 or early 2007.
