In an interview with the Seattle Times it is revealed that HTC may be poised to try to repeat its success in the Windows Mobile area in the UMPC space. HTC is looking to hire a 12-person engineering team that would design products that mimic miniature, long-battery-life laptops that can make phone calls. That sounds very much like a UMPC device. Further speculations suggests that such devices could use Via’s C7 processors.
We could see such HTC products as early as next year.
