Brighthand has taken a closer look at HP’s financial results for its latest quarter and found that HP saw a 25 percent sale drop in iPAQ sales when compared to the same quarter a year ago. Brighthand goes on to surmise that the drop could be due in part to the rising popularity of converged devices (eg, smartphones and other devices merging traditional PDA capabilities with cellular and/or wireless capabilities) where HP has not been as dominant.
Hopefully, the recent announcement that HP is giving handhelds their own business unit is an indication that HP may have a few new tricks up their sleeves.
