iRex, a company spun off from Phillips, has released details about its eBook reader. Called the iLiad (model ER 0100), it is a monochrome electronic paper reader that will support the PDF, XHTML, TXT and MP3 formats with others to be offered later.
The display is a 8.1 inch monochrome touchscreen capable of a resolution of 1024×768 and able to display 16 levels of grey. It is powered by an Intel 400MHz XScale processor and comes with 64MB RAM and 224 of user accessible flash memory. It also comes with USB, Compact Flash and SD memory card slots, 802.11g Wi-Fi and an audio jack. The iLiad uses very little power and can apparently last over a week based on three hours usage per day.
